About the event

Join Church of the Advent and St. Thomas Deaf Church as we cook and serve the underprivileged a hot meal and hospitality. While meals are served each week at St. John's Episcopal Church in St. Louis, different Episcopal Churches in the Diocese of Missouri volunteer to cook, serve, and cleanup different weeks of the month.

Advent and St. Thomas volunteer one week in January, May, August, and October each year. Please check back in July and August for our next volunteer day.

ABOUT US

Since 1957, the Church of the Advent Episcopal Church has been a thriving force in the City of Crestwood.  Feeding the hungry, providing meaningful worship and growing a faith-filled community have been our mission.  Come see us in action!

In the fall of 2021, St. Thomas Deaf Church joined when their Vicar, Rev. Emily Hillquist Davis, became the Rector of Advent.  Always thinking of others, the members of Advent invited the members of St. Thomas to follow Rev. Emily and we became "Partners in Christ".

St. Thomas Deaf Church was started in 1876, founded by Austin Ward Mann, who was a Deaf priest.  St. Thomas is one of only three Deaf Episcopal Churches left in The Episcopal Church, but the Episcopal Conference of the Deaf (ECD), a national organization, is hoping to change that statistic.  You can learn more about the St. Thomas and the ECD by looking at our HISTORY page.
